<p><em>“Fidya”</em> is a donation type within the Islamic tradition paid by individuals who cannot fulfill the obligation of fasting due to illness or old age. <em>Fidya</em> payments are meant to feed a <em>miskeen</em> (person in need) for each of the fasting days missed, The portion of Sadaka Fitr equals to portion of the Fidya itself.</p><p>''Days numbered and few; then whosoever among you is sick or journeying, for him the like number of other days. And for those who can keep it with hardship the ransom is the feeding of a and whosoever voluntarily poor man doth good, it will be better for him; and that ye fast Will be better for you, if ye only knew.'' (Bakara - 184)</p>
